In a Coffin (1885)

This image is from a 1885 book about Monarchies in Austro-Hungarian. The grave of a king, I assume.

See how his crown lies next to his bones. In his life it was probably of great importance to have such an item on his head. However, after death – it is of little use to him. Bonus cute lizard, try and find him!

Harry Clarke Art II – Including Illustrations for Edgar Allan Poe’s Works

Henry Patrick Clarke, died tragically in 1931. At only 41 years of age, tuberculosis took him to his death. Although some of his art and illustrations are quite disturbing – he was above all talented.
